Methylene Blue acts as a redox cycling agent, accepting electrons from NADH and donating them directly to cytochrome c in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, bypassing impaired complexes I–III to maintain ATP synthesis. It inhibits monoamine oxidase (MAO) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) to modulate neurotransmitter tone and reduce neuroinflammatory signaling. Its potent antioxidant activity attenuates reactive oxygen species accumulation in neuronal tissue, supporting mitochondrial membrane potential and cognitive function.
